Kendal, the not-for-profit parent company of The Admiral at the Lake, has been working to transform our culture’s view of the aging process since the 1970s. Although the Kendal System is not affiliated with any religious institution, it was founded with the principles of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in mind.

The biting winds of winter are upon us, but that doesn’t mean we want to be cooped up inside for the next four months. Join Admiral residents as we venture out to these entertaining and educational events near The Admiral at the Lake. Explore the nearby neighborhoods of Andersonville and Edgewater, and dive deeper into the north end of Chicago to see what the city has to offer.

Holiday dining is a highlight for many of us during this festive season. It’s a time for friends and family, for gift giving and receiving, but it’s also a time for delicious meals topped off with cakes, pies, and plenty of Christmas cookies.

Here at The Admiral at the Lake, we’re looking forward to a full and lively holiday season. Every year, the halls fill with families and friends coming to join our celebrations, and this year is sure to be no different.

Windows on the world. The neighborhoods in Chicago offer a glimpse into the world of the area’s waves of settlers from around the world. On the north side, wait in anticipation for Tomten as if you were in Sweden in Andersonville or celebrate with the large Greek population near Lincoln Park. Around Mount Greenwood, those with Irish roots and in Koreatown, residents observe the Christian holiday.

By 2030, more than 20 percent of U.S. residents are projected to be age 65 and over. In tandem with that population growth is an anti-clutter movement.
