In fact, according to a survey in 2017,  Assessing Consumer Interest in University-Based Retirement Communities, priorities among Americans over 65 when moving to a retirement community affiliated with a college or university showed the following results:

According to recent studies, 10 million adult children over the age of 50 are actively caregiving for their parent(s). These adult children are tasked with daily chores such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, dressing and bathing, and more.

A retirement community is a place for active adults who are seeking things like exciting new friendships, stimulating educational opportunities and convenient lifestyles that help them thrive.

However, if you asked someone what they thought life in a retirement community was like, they might tell you something completely different. Why? Because there are a lot of myths out there muddying the waters.

Baby boomers are retiring at a higher rate every year. It is estimated that since 2011, an average of 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day. By 2030, about 18% of the population will be over 65.
