Join residents of The Admiral at the Lake in events happening around the neighborhoods of Andersonville, Edgewater, and in the north end of Chicago.

Chicago’s art fair season begins in September, so don’t miss these opportunities to experience—and, in some cases, purchase—art.

Renegade Craft Fair

September 9-10
Wicker Park

Part of a series of fairs all over the world, this is touted as the world’s largest curated showcase of art and design.

Expo Chicago

September 13-17
Navy Pier

Onsite programs include installations, solo and two-artist presentations represented by galleries 8 years and younger, a lecture program on two stages, a curated screening program for film, video, and new media works and nonprofit booths. Offsite programming is offered as part of the city-wide public art initiative. Additional programs and projects are realized through partnerships with local museums and organizations.

Ravenswood ArtWalk

September 16-17
Ravenswood Avenue from Irving Park Avenue to Leland

Although there are more than 50 art exhibitors, you can also enjoy 2 stages of live music, the craft beer garden, the food truck roundup, and children’s activities.

Edgewater Arts Festival

September 23-24
West Granville Avenue between Kenmore Avenue and Broadway

Just down the street from The Admiral at the Lake, Edgewater celebrates the talents of local artists with works in a variety of media, such as ceramics, photography and handmade jewelry. Talk to and learn from individual artists during this event, which also includes live music, a student art show and a puppy costume parade.

German-American Festival

September 8-10
Lincoln Avenue and Irving Park Road

Sample authentic German food and traditional drinks while dancing to the music of German bands. The parade is at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

American Indian Center of Chicago Powwow

September 16, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.

This gathering features song and dance, arts and crafts vendors, Native foods, and archery.

Lakeview Taco Fest

September 16-17, 11 a.m.- 10 p.m.
Southport Avenue from Addison to Roscoe

Sample tacos from a dozen restaurants and vote for the best. This fest also features beer, live music on 2 stages, arts and crafts and a kids’ area for the grandchildren.

VeganMania

September 23, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Check out vegan products, listen to lectures, enjoy vegan food samples, and listen to live music.

Fiesta Familiar

September 24, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Lincoln Park Zoo

Vamos (Let’s go) to the largest Hispanic family event of its kind in the Midwest, with live music, dance, and family-focused activity stations about art, health, gardening, science and more.

St. Alphonsus Oktoberfest

September 29-October 1
Lincoln Avenue at Southport Avenue

Celebrate with beer, bratwurst, pretzels, live music, arts and crafts and kids’ activities. Don’t forget the craft beer tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

St. Benedict’s Oktoberfest

Whether you go to St. Benedict’s or not, take some time to enjoy German food, beer, and bands. The grandkids will enjoy the kids’ carnival, too.

Apple Fest

September 30-October 1

Enjoy all the ways this fall fruit can be used while checking out arts and crafts from local vendors and listening to music.

Millennium Park

Millennium Park hosts a number of events throughout the year, but its offerings this month are exceptional. Bordered by Columbus Drive, West Monroe Street, South Michigan Avenue, and East Randolph Street, the park includes a theater, green space with art, and an LED sculpture with reflecting pool.

Chicago Jazz Festival

Through September 3, 5-9:30 p.m.

This year’s festival celebrates Thelonious Monk and Ella Fitzgerald and ends Sunday with the Rebirth Brass Band.

Opera in the Park

September 8, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Stars of Lyric Opera is presented by Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Chicago Gourmet Grand Tasting

September 23-24

Chicago Gourmet features seminars, presentations and more held at several venues, including Millennium Park.

Chicago Half Marathon/Health and Fitness Expo

September 22-24

The Health and Fitness Expo takes place September 22-23 on the South Concourse of Soldier Field. The Half Marathon on the 24th begins at 6:45 a.m., traverses the streets around Hyde Park and the Museum of Science and Industry before winding on to traffic-free Lake Shore Drive.
